KOTA: Police arrested one Kamalesh Rani (35) with 2 kg of opium. She was taking this for her husband. According to police sources a woman behaving in a suspicious manner was found near the zoo in Nayapura area while police patrolling on Wednesday evening. When she saw the police jeep she tried to hide.
The accused Kamalesh Rani, belongs to Cheeka police station area of Haryana and was carrying a bag in her hand.
When police searched her bag a purse containing 2 kg of opium was found.
In the preliminary inquiry she told the police that her husband was an opium addict and she was taking this for him. She revealed that earlier too Haryana police had arrested her twice and in one case she was sentenced to jail.
Kamalesh Rani told the police that she had purchased opium from a smuggler in Aklera town of Jhalawar district. Police are searching for the smuggler on the basis of this information. The police were also informed about a friend of Kamalesh Rani who was waiting at the roadways bus stand in Nayapura. However, police did not find any dubious person there.
The Nayapura police has arrested Kamalesh Rani and registered a case against her under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
